This is a 2 day course that begins at 7:00 am PST and ends at 3:00pm PST each day. Environments that have sustained damages from blood, body fluids, other potentially infectious materials, or potentially pathogenic microorganisms require technicians that have been trained in specialized remediation processes. The IICRC TCST Trauma and Crime Scene Cleaning Technician certification course will prepare students working on crime and accident scenes contaminated with bloodborne pathogens and infectious disease by providing specific information for the proper maintenance and cleaning of trauma, crime scenes, and other possible infectious & hazardous areas. Based on the IICRC/ANSI S540 Trauma and Crime Scene Standard, emphasis is placed on health and safety requirements, donning and doffing of PPE and creating a hazard assessment of the area, structural remediation (cleaning and demo), contents remediation (cleaning and disposal), and the cleaning and disposal of vehicles and industrial machinery including lockout/tagout and working with industrial site officers. Cleaning and demo equipment will be discussed along with the laws regarding hazardous waste, transport, storage, and disposal. TCST instructors will use simple explanations and fun learning lessons, exercises, and review to provide the education needed to understand the proper procedures of trauma and crime scene cleaning…and pass the IICRC TCST exam! This class will include topics such as: • Health & safety protocols • Hazard assessment • PPE & engineering controls • Site inspection & assessment • Technician & project preparation • The proper use of containment & air filtration devices • Cleaning chemicals & antimicrobials • Tools & equipment • Proper cleaning & deodorization practices • Client communications This course contains images, videos, and subject matter that may discuss and/or show blood, body parts, and images that some consider disturbing.
